Styling your home for autumn

As leaves begin to fall from the trees and darker nights draw in, we say goodbye to summer and welcome a new autumn season.

Just as we watch nature change around us, you may decide that you want to make some changes to your home to achieve feelings of warmth and cosiness. Making subtle interior swaps and introducing a new colour palette can not only be exciting, but can also create a renewed sense of homeliness and comfort. For example, the experience of snuggling on the sofa with your favourite book or film can be enhanced with notes of cedarwood or clove from a scented candle. A tablescape of autumnal blooms can really set the scene when welcoming family and friends for dinner.

If you are looking for easy ways to welcome autumn into your home, take a look at some of our styling tips below.

Weave warm colours into your soft furnishings

One of the easiest ways to give your living room an autumnal look is with scatter cushions in a seasonal shade. You might choose something fun, perhaps Halloween themed, or something simple and timeless. We would recommend rich reds, burnt orange and golden yellow tones, which are symbolic of leaves changing colour.

Pumpkin picking!

Autumn would not be complete without pumpkins, so why not head to your local pumpkin patch? Not only is it a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy, it’s a way to create a memorable and personal decoration for the home.

Top tip: Pumpkins only last a few days after carving, we recommend waiting until just before Halloween to get creative.

Bring autumnal scents to the fore

Having diffusers and scented candles dotted around the home will give that heart-warming feeling to your guests. Choose comforting scents of vanilla, apple pie and cinnamon, or opt for earthy notes of patchouli, cedar and pine. The choices and possibilities are endless.
