We are thrilled to be on the sofa with Lizzy Hadfield and delve a little deeper into her interior inspirations and home advice.
How would you describe your interior style and where do you draw your inspiration from?
I am hugely inspired by Parisian interiors and also my Italian Uncle’s home. He is an architect with the most incredible life story, his home borders on being a hoarders home, but every piece he has tells a story and he has the most amazing eye for design.
Working for yourself and from home can be a balancing act. What are your tips for separating work from play?
If you don’t have the luxury of having the space for a separate office, then I would say make sure you always get dressed and fully ready for the day, and put your laptop out if sight in an evening so you actually manage to switch off.
When renting it can sometimes be a challenge to find a space you can make your own. What do you look for in a flat when searching the rental market?
Something with good character before it has any of my furniture in. Great original features like fireplaces, parquet flooring and bay windows add instant character.
Your job allows you stay in some amazing hotels in the UK and overseas. Where has been the most inspiring place you have ever stayed?
Amanera in the Dominican Republic! It was incredible! And my aforementioned Uncle’s house in the south of Italy.
A neutral and traditional sofa is a versatile option that will stand the test of time. You’ve styled your Alwinton sofa with two gorgeous linen cushions from The Conran Shop. How else could you style your sofa to change things up and create a different look?
Well I LOVE how the sofa looks with nothing on it at all, so that’s always another simple option! I also love a throw of the same colour but a different texture that adds some subtle detail.
What is your favourite room in your flat and why?
The living room because of its high ceilings and huge windows, it’s both open and airy and cosy at the same time!
Investment pieces are a key part of your wardrobe. What is your advice and tips for investing when it comes to furniture?
Look for vintage! I love vintage design pieces and they really do stand the test of time and never date. There is some iconic furniture design out there, so really go to the classics for some inspiration!
We see many fashion trends creeping into the world of interiors. What fashion trends are you enjoying this spring that you’d love to bring into your home?
Well I am not the biggest follower of trends, in fashion or in my home! But in terms of getting my home ready for spring, or the change of any season, I love to switch up what fresh flowers I am buying and also get some new candles with a really fresh scent! Scents can totally transform the experience of a room!
