Designers Guild History and Ethics
Established in 1970 by Tricia Guild the company grew extremely quickly. It soon became a well known and respected supplier of furnishing fabrics, wallcoverings, upholstery and bed and bath collections throughout the world. Designers Guild has a key focus on ethical trading. The fabrics are all created with that in mind with a conscious commitment to trade ethically all the way through the supply chain. This means that you can be sure that the end product is of a high standard and has been meticulously monitored for quality and craftsmanship. Scrap fabric is donated to charities and the company is an avid supporter of many charities.
The designs and product ranges
The core ethos behind the designs that Designers Guild produce is to push boundaries while retaining a traditional look. With inspiration taken from all over the world ranging from Eastern decorative art, Italian architecture and classical documents. The Royal Collection
In 2008 Designers Guild launched a new brand called The Royal Collection of Fabrics and Wallcoverings. This is a series of collections inspired by the interiors of Royal residences throughout the UK drawing on the incredibly rich history of Royalty and design.
