Fabric of the Month: Hudson Bay by Linwood

It has been an exciting month here at Sofas and Stuff, almost as though Christmas came early to our showrooms with the arrival of some exciting new fabric books! In amongst the new collections from Andrew Martin, J Brown and Romo we found what we are sure is going to become a firm favourite in our barn’s – Linwood’s Hudson Bay. This veritable treasure trove of wonderful wools, luscious linens and cosy colours, all mixed with a vintage vibe will have you planning a whole house transformation in no time at all.

We love a fabric book that has been carefully thought out with the designer choosing which fabrics go together well. This helps to take away hours, of what can be, stressful searching for complimenting fabrics and makes the whole experience less overwhelming for everyone! Although it can take the fun out of our jobs a little! Hudson Bay is a great example of this, each fabric is placed around others that not only compliment in terms of colours but work well with contrasting fabrics and textures.

This sofa is a great example of mixing and matching, Linwood have used the Hudson Bay collection to create a striking combo of stripes, checks, wools, patterns and cottons and velvets all on just one piece of furniture!

The choice of colours for the sofa has a little more of an autumnal feel to it but each of the patterns is available in fresher colourways of pinks, blues, oranges and also a more neutral pallet, we think there is something for everyone.

The Sofas and Stuff team have fallen head over heels for this velvet fabric shown here on a sofa. Use in small quantities to ensure that it doesn’t take over a room, we think it would look just brilliant on a chair or as wallpaper in a little loo!

Combine with one of the subtly patterned linens and we think you will have a look that will have all of your friends feeling a little green.

As always, we would love to hear any of your design ideas and to see your photos of how you have creatively combined fabrics. Send us a Tweet or pop something on our Facebook wall and we will let you know what we think! Looking for more inspiration? Visit our Instagram page!
